I might have posted this one b4 i can't remember so here ya go...

SICK SAD WORLD!

Ever since very young,
we've always been told,
to love ourselfs outside & in,
& to break away from life's mold.
But then we're given Barbie,
& passed over the remote.
Toys & shows,
that just continue to promote.
How can we be loved within,
if our world's about the out?
Our self-esteem destroyed,
weighed down by bricks of doubt.
So silicon is put in place,
& cellulite removed.
Make-up & touchups here & there.
Society's been proved.
Hours of prepping & primping,
to look perfect, for what?
Acception, Appreciation,
or just a second look?
How can we change these ways,
without eliminating men?
Appreciate inside & outside for good!
Make-over Barbie & Ken!

Interesting social commentary, Elmo, and I really liked some of the allusions of bourgeois mentality. But is this really a dark piece? Somehow, I think this would be best presented in Open or the Pub, but that's just my opinion.

Still, this was a good one, and I agree with your message.

Thanx everyone--Sure i think this is the perfect place for this poem--it is portraying the dark world that we live in

i dunno as a child everyone told me that looks aren't important & then i got millions of barbie's & realized how perfect she looked--it went against everything that i was told--i dunno just my opinion--LOVE ELMO <3
