How shall I be freed from the cruel shackles of this unholy giant called *Despair*? He,who keeps me darkly chained in a formidable pit, flogging me, mercilessly for resisting him, as I reach for the occasional ray of hope, that so briefly lights the chamber of this dungeon of death...
Cruelly,he savages me... ..brutally bruising me as he taunts me with promises of freedom.
But only when he tires of me. He ravages me daily, taking me by force, raping my soul and commanding me me to bow to his desire. Desperate tears, course, in rivulets of stain down my face, prodding me to pray, to beg,for one, just one, moment of happiness. ....Please!
Sadly, I must eat of the bread he offers me, morosely chewing the staleness of my life, my tears, now, threaten to drown me… ...to choke the very essence of life from my gasping lips. I welcome the release… My hopes are lost…..
But what is the sweet music I hear? Is it not the hoof-beats of the royal guard, accompanying the prince on his passionate quest to find his beloved?
The single red rose, clutched tightly to my pale breast, is for him alone...
As a warm spring rain you cause flowers to grow wherever you are, and beauty even in dispair.. great poem Babe, and a beautiful presentation. H&K, LYB, YBF Thunder.....

Despair is a "psychotic taskmaster" indeed. But the lovely feelings of rescued honor and romance at the end of this piece, are all I need to say: Great job!! I hope you are very happy with your "Prince Valiant". Thanks.

Thanks for commenting. The only prnce Valiant i have ever known was in the spiritual realm. No prince Valiant exists on earth..hehehehe..nor does a Cinderella.
This poem was more about a spiritual battle and then God as the rescuer... And He des help me in adversity. aloha!
