columbine crossfire
merciless maim
martyrdom hellfire
anonymous fame

wind in the windows
scars on the doors
brains on the rainbows
blood on the floors

voices are broken
lips out of sync
soliloquies spoken
in angles of pink

inviolate silence
media skew
violet violence
blends red and blue

gratuitous game?
societal shame?
lost boys to blame?
dead all the same

Well, I'm not sure what exactly to say about this. I love your use of colors in this and references to the media and columbine. Very interesting.

nice wirte...very intresting how your use of colors to describe the event.

i was wondering if you wrote this recently, or at the time of the event...

"in a past life i was a woodcarver's knife: the sharpend blade of a wood cutter, the eldest son of the chief's brother: a maker of drums"

Veeeeery nice!! I tried to write something to that affect, countless times, but you've done a much better job than I ever could.

Wow, that was amazing.  I truly think the way you chose to write about the subject was amazing...i've read a few poems on this subject and they are all basically the same.  This on the other hand is an entirely original aproach, good job.

Thanks everybody for reading and remembering.
In answer to the question about when: Yes, it was recently written.
Colors, especially pink and violet, come up in this story. If you do an Internet search you will find:

Columbine's school colors of Silver and Blue.

Pink Floyd's "The Wall".

Four pink crosses, nine blue crosses, two black crosses erected at the memorial site.

A radical reference to "The Pink Swastika" and "Maroon Velvet Trenchcoats".

A religious commentary titled "She Said Pink".

A place to buy seeds for Pink and Violet columbine hybrids to be grown especially in remembrance, etc..........

In terms of human emotion, pink has long symbolized the limbo between the purity of heaven (symbolized in white), and the evil of hell (symbolized in red). Pink blends the two colors halfway.
Violet, which is a similar combination of Blue and Red, has long symbolized pain.

As for the title "angles of pink", it came from imagery in a line from a Bob Dylan song "Tombstone Blues" which says: "The geometry of innocent flesh on the bone".
Also, the word angel is pronounced angle in some languages.

Anywayz, I appreciate your kind comments.

Man, I'm gonna keep this one in my library.

I've always taken a special interest in "events of that nature." I recommend www.bangbangyouredead.com
Bang Bang You're Dead is a Play by William Mastrosimone.
A very, very good play which turned out a fact-based movie done by Showtime about a boy who prevented another school shooting partially due to his role in this play. It forced all the parents and people around those angry students to take a look at what drove them to such drastic actions. I don't say any of that to justify, just to make sure it's looked at from all 'angles.'
But enough of my rambling, I dug your poem.

to the limousine-society
found in alleys hot
with Humanity in passing
