It takes a lot of courage To take your own life It takes even more To live it And though you are suffering With all of your strife The universe knows What you give it You think of a world And how it should be With all of your dreams Now shattered For looking back now It’s so clear to see That nothing you did Ever mattered But that is not true My forlorn friend For life’s a perpetual Test As long as you strive ‘Til you reach the end Knowing that you did Your best Your heart can be proud And your soul can take ease Having survived Such a fall So pick yourself up Just get off your knees And show them that you Can stand tall Now take a deep breath No make not a sound Then think of the road You follow For only in death Can nothing be found But darkness so stark And hollow G. A. Webb 06/17/03 Regret not that which you have done, |

Well, G.A. Webb... This is one of the best poems I've ever read...just perfect. I'm going to look for more of your work right now. I don't think I've ever read you before. Thanks for sharing this wonderful poem. Ethel |

Wow!!! This is an excellent poem! I love the title "Wait" -- there is such a strong message here, and throughout the poem. Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end... |

WOW! Thank you all for such great replies. Having had someone close to me kill himself and having had thoughts of my own, these words kept me up one night until I put them to pen. I guess one could call it, self-advice"...lol! I'm glad to see that my thoughts give comfort to others as well. Once again, I thank you all so much, I'm glad you liked this piece! Hi G.A. I'm sorry to hear about your friend, but I'm really glad that this poem helped you deal with your own feelings. I reread the poem again, and I just think it is wonderful. I love the line: "For only in death Can nothing be found" I'm glad you shared this, and I hope others who are hurting will have the chance to read it...perhaps it could make a difference in their lives. Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end... |
