He wrote a book entitled "life" about his waiting to die. The covers were of heavy leather, the contents make men cry. The pages are creased in strange places their words are hard to read. He writes not about God or the Soul because he has no need. With flowing flourishes of his pen he forms letters of beauty undying although the words as they look printed are like outright lying. The pessimist, the optimist the surgeon and the dog met in the courtyards of a castle that really was a bog. They sang their songs and beat their drums to make their lives seem merry, but their current situation was quite to the contrary. As they laughed and danced and sang they ever-slowly sank; their lungs grew full of poisoned water their hearts and souls grew dank. Drowning slowly, happily without the slightest care, the men sung of heaven's gates in hopes they'd soon be there. |
