Laughing at You

Laughing at the world can be so easy
And laughing myself is too
But laughing at you hurts me inside
Because I know I shouldn't

I know that it pains you deep inside
Although you hide it from me
But I still hear myself laughing
And I cannot understand why

I could use such an excuse
As peer pressure or such
But that doesn't make it any better
So why even say it out loud

My own laugh brings tears to my eyes
Yet the shrill noise goes on
I'm sorry for my own stupidity
I hope you can forgive me

For I know not why I laugh

It's difficult to explain to anyone...even ourselves sometimes why we do things like this. I think most people are guilty of having done this before. I know I am guilty.
