counting flowers counting buds time wasting away day by day counting my wishes and counting my hopes dreaming of tomorrow better things that will someday come teach me a lesson one i'll take to heart let me learn to fly and i start to take off but my collar's too tight and my leash is too short let me go spread my wings merciless master counting the flowers counting the minutes the hours the days til you die and i'm free counting the blades of grass in my cage the tear drops in my bowl i know it's just me but please just forgive me i just needed to try to see if i could but dreams are invisible intangible unreachable and just like my freedom, unattainable... never leave the light on if you don't want to be found |

this is an incredible piece of writing...from the delicate title through the powerful, emotional lines, to the hopeless feeling at the end. Should also be in the book, I think. |
