As many times as you've made me run
to the devil's arms.
That's how many times my arms will
not be open when you run to them.

Not Vengeance.
But Justice.

As many times as I have tripped and
fallen in the cold snow and was
frosbitten from stupidity.
That's how many winters in Hell.

Not Lies.
But the Cold Truth.

As many lives as I have been made
to live only to find an endless
staircase leading to love.
That's how many steps you will have
to take to get to me.

Not Impossibilities.
But possible Relentless Pathways.

As many dreams as I have been forced
to settle for when I am not allowed
to make the only one I have come true.
That's how many nightmares you shall
face.

Sleep now, my friend.

For when you wake up.
The house will be on fire.

And whether you are consumed
by the flames depends upon how much
water you have taken from.....

The River.

Interesting. Sounds very vengeful but it expresses something we all feel from time to time. Nice.
