The Carnival The harlequin gazes At me from within A gallery of shattered windows From the twisted wonderland Behind a tainted looking glass (Stop it) In the night-painted candlelit Façade of dreams She’s reaching, beseeching Yearning turning dancing burning On a thread that controls Her brooding nightmare existence “Fool…” (Don’t call me that) They’re calling to me: The harlequin The ringmaster The fool The ringmaster Has a smile like a Gilded cage, ambrosia-coated whip Tyrant of the carnival Crucifying wonderment for the masses In the gore-painted shadowlit Promenade of screams He’s smile, beguiling Slashing lashing bashing crashing Past the painted visage Of my delusions of sanity (I took a step…) They’re reaching for me: The harlequin The ringmaster The fool (Into the mirror’s gaping jaws) My voice is a macabre echo Cracked and fraying Thread, noose, golden manacle They flayed me of my paint Until all that was left was laughter Past the black rainbow skies ‘Midst the brambles that bleed He’s seeing, fleeing…silently sobbing lying crying laughing dying In this grimly grinning world: The carnival |

Very vivid. I was "walking" through the fair as I read your work. Jesus lives in my heart! |
