Electricity that courses through gray matter of brain it cures, they say, even the criminally insane. Your shock treatment that went to the marrow instead the very essence of me that was deep in my head, the synapse was wrong, the firing off base, oh the smell of the burning within my brain case. You fried my mind with the jolt and the shock All I can say now , is gee, thanks a lot. WhiteRose 11/21/02 [This message has been edited by WhiteRose (11-21-2002 11:26 PM).] |

You've done a great job here combining a really good and happy meter with a somewhat dark subject. Your poem handles the dark subject matter of electroshock treatment and all it can entail with an upbeat almost comical rhythm. The conclusion was well done, though its rhythm was a little harder to match with that of the rest of the poem. And, of course, there's still the realm of symbolism. I just realized that there's a whole load of implications that a title like "shock treatment" can have! "If history is to change, let it change. If the world is to be destroyed, so be it. If my fate is to die, I must simply laugh" -- Magus [This message has been edited by fractal007 (11-22-2002 12:00 AM).] |
