Ours was a troubled innocence, youth mutated and childhood disjointed From war's womb and division's gaping chasm Our two forms were fashioned from bloody clay Two swords tested in fire, always broken and mended Our own histories are like the cracked lands of Miranda. Yet our two lives press onward We are brothers but different. NOTES:Miranda is one of Uranus's moons. Its surface shows evidence of much tempestuous geological activity. "If history is to change, let it change. If the world is to be destroyed, so be it. If my fate is to die, I must simply laugh" |

Hey Frac, I haven't been here in a while, and don't usually say much when I do haunt these dark margins But I must say that I think your two latest pieces are excellent work, done in a very laconic and thought provoking style. "There is in truest warrior's terms, a kind of brotherhood, born of enmity, nurtured in courage, and tempered with respect for bloodied steel." Thanks, coyote |

Coyote: Glad to hear that. I've been experimenting with free verse on and off lately, and the experiments seem, in many cases, to be paying off. Your quote, btw, has uncovered an aspect of my relationship with my brother that I hadn't thought of while writing this poem. Thankyou. "If history is to change, let it change. If the world is to be destroyed, so be it. If my fate is to die, I must simply laugh" -- Magus [This message has been edited by fractal007 (11-19-2002 05:24 PM).] |
