Three stand before the Champion
Complacency, Infatuation, and Spiritedness.
The place, a mere empty, cold large room.
The challenge before them
is simple in its complexity.
Each of you possess your own self worth.
Use this to acquire that which you know
will fill the room.
One shall win the Champion’s
all as their reward.
Complacency smirks, yet returns in time
with a barrel of hay that barely misses
the mark of entirety in his task.
Infatuation knows her desire for
victory in this reward,
and ponders before finally returning.
The bulk of her thistle
indeed surpasses that of Complacency
for her need in competition is greater,
yet still she fails to fill the room.
Spiritedness arrives much later,
and appears to have nothing to show
for his lack of efficiency.
You see, with his lot, he bought
a friend in need a nights feast,
returning with only a single
white candle and one match.
Spiritedness lit the candle,
the glow of which filled the entire
room with light and warmth.

I seek not a victory
over Complacency or Infatuation.
I strive only to provide the most
I can with what I have.
I only want that which is
rightfully mine by goodwill.
The reward in this challenge, indeed:
I want nothing more.
Yet it is in its own desire to give
that I can find solace

Now THAT is a poem, Sir.

I love that light fills the room --
and even makes it warm.

Thanks for this poem today.
