PLEASE NOTE: This poem is not intended as an attack on the video game Mortal Combat. The reference to that game is used in a [I hope] humourous hyperbole. The days before the video games were bright. Men still killed and people fought in war, But kids weren't slowly forced by games to fight. Instead we told our kids that smoking was cool. Before we had them people were filled with joy. Mortal Combat destroyed our utopian world, Throwing out the old with a new toy That told our kids violence is the way to go. We have a new learning aid now. "If history is to change, let it change. If the world is to be destroyed, so be it. If my fate is to die, I must simply laugh" -- Magus [This message has been edited by fractal007 (09-25-2002 11:52 PM).] |

Hey, it's Mortal Kombat. Wow, it's been that long? I remember on the Genesis you hit ABACABA and you have blood. I forgot what the keypress combo was to unlock certain characters. Finish him! Nostalgia Man |

I forget the comedian's name who wryly commented how grateful he was that Hitler had never been exposed to the game DOOM... I got the same sarcastic edge from this, frac...enjoyed with smiles. |

I apologise for the ambiguity of my poem. My inclusion of Mortal Kombat was not in any way attempting to critique that particular game. Rather, it was intended to demonstrate the mentality that video games are the cause of our evils in action. This poem is intended as a comical observation of those who would claim that before there were video games people were happy. "If history is to change, let it change. If the world is to be destroyed, so be it. If my fate is to die, I must simply laugh" |

I realize that, f7. Hence my sorta humorous, rambling response. (I can take or leave MK or any of those other games -- give me the Atari and a night of Berzerk, or E.T., or Atlantis) Anyway... Enjoyed the poem. |
