NARCISSIST A demon's due, a lover's fix. A stained glass view, a crucifix. I write the psalm but just can't see Beyond the calm of Misery. Beheld in eye, the speeder's curse, Living to die, I bleed in verse, And there, beneath the setting sun Would dare bequeath my soul to none! To rape the living - watch the dead - Deny the giving - turn my head To face these cold and weathered eyes; The mirror's old to my surprise. And yet I stand, in pilfered dream With empty hand and eyes agleam, In wonder of some twisted awe I once called love, but never saw! Michael Anderson But dreams of those who dream as I, Aspiringly, are damned and die. EAP |

Nicely done here! Wow I truly enjoyed this poem very much. Good job on this. Very nice! I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust. I'm in love with my shadow I admire it daily |

Michael...this is gorgeous as always...there is an undercurrent of bemusement here (could be ME, tho...I do tend to take things personally...smiles) But I do love your style, and continue to read and study? and HEY? where's LINDA? I sure wish she would help me with forms. Will beg if necessary! |

Applause!Applause! Love this one. It should be in The Book Of Counted Sorrows (which I can't find anywhere!) This is a great write, true to dark definition and fabulous to read! With the word, I am mighty, with the pen I am free.. dragonpoe |

Well it's been so long since the last time I read one of your poems that I've forgotten how good you write. They're always so eloquent, honest, and profound. You can see the words just flowing like a river. They're so gentle sounding yet so dark. A definite talent you have. And it's been a pleasure as always. I am no one if not myself. Mike, I really like this... not only is it about me... oh, it's not?, oh well... anyway, I liked the way you presented it - the internal rhyme scheme lent a "light" air to an otherwise sever subject. It felt sardonic and intentionally sneaky. Very mucho liking this mi compadre!!! C |

Narcissist, huh? Don't think so, m'dear. If you'll recall, 'tis always me staring adoringly at you, not you fawning after yourself. And looking in the mirror to shave, lengthy process though it may be, does not count. LOL Sigh. A most enjoyable read, sweetling ... wish I could find where I packed my Muse. Hello Michael..... As chilling as this was, I loved reading it. You have such a way with words, that even the the saddest poems that flow from your pen are beautiful. Very well done Sir! ~Sheri "The things that come to those that wait may be the things left by those who got there first" |

Dopey_Dope, I'm glad you enjoyed the read. serenity, there was a tone of sardonic humore beneath the surface here, glad it brought you a smile... Temptress*Moon, are there narcissist in N.Y. too? dragonpoe, Let me know if you ever find that book - sound most interesting, being a Terry Goodkind fan and all. Dark Enchantress, I must say ditto to that on everything I read of yours. Chris, I think you think everything I write is about you... sigh - just kidding, though I really don't think your mirror near as old as mine now is it? Swamp¤Faeryie, thank you for the kind words. Linda, I can still pretend, can't I? *smooches* Sheri, speaking of chill - it's been snowing all week here - not quite used to it yet. gjam, so glad you like the piece. and thank you all for the replies.
