This is an after-hour's dance-- I toe the soot and sway alone beyond last call for alcohol I grab the broom and lock the door and etta james (she waits for me) faithfully behind B4-- "At Last..." (I am awake in sleep) I draw a ve'-ve' in the floor... I brush the green and blow the ash-- I count the sticks and look for cracks. I empty trays of cigarettes-- each butt in testify--regret... I turn the neon down real low... at last, at last, I can dance slow. All the loneliness is gone-- at last, my love has come along. |

There's something so great about an empty place of work. Unfortunately, my store never closes, but there are the hour-long lulls without customers, and that's the only time things get peaceful and I can remember why I'm willing to work so late after all. Beautiful poem. i'll be waiting for you |

I'm no stranger to "beyond last call" meseff. I always liked the look and sounds of empty streets, while sitting alone in my bar. Lookin' out the front window n' havin' a quiet one (Granddad ~ rocks) You put me in that same mood. Thanks, ~Ed |

well, the boy'z been a singing to me for sometime...and kwite the voice i might add, especially with his new genre of tunes, but such skilled-know-how as this would be the only that illicits such responses. again, a phantastic "right", blaze! i'll always need a friend, one i can defend. |
