Memories Fade

I write your name on a piece of paper,
It seems to make me feel better.
I take some scissors
And cut right down the middle.

Watch as our memories fade.
Drain away from my mind,
From my fingers,
Out the end of the scissor's tips.

Say good bye to yesterday,
Good bye to what was said.
I drop the paper now two,
Into its garbage bin bed.

I wrote your name on paper,
And cut that paper in two.
It really did make me feel better.
Now when memories need to fade,
I'll know what to do.

i found taking the pictures i had of 'em and putting them in a coffee can with some lighter fluid and a match was more ...
cathartic for me.

enjoyed this bit o strength, mistress.

it's our struggle for identity that leaves us all unknown

That's an empowering thing to do! Too many women hang on to those pictures and continue living with the pain.

Onward and Upward!

It reminds me too of getting rejection letters. I used to hold onto those things for unpublished poetry for the longest time -- then I wisely woke up and threw the crap out.
