I have a couple Of falling dreams You know the ones? Where you step Fall or are pushed Into a quarter mile Of clear blue nothing Nothing, that is, Except the ground Which seems to be In some great hurry To make your acquaintance Now, the rumor is, That if you and the earth Ever do meet this way While in dreamstate You’ll never wake up And you always do, Just before impact At the height of terror You awake with a start And a breathless gasp But, not in my dreams I get to feel the crush That follows the rush Only to waken on the First bounce ~wranx In reply to "which way do we go?", the answer was never "straight", but, "progressively forward". ~wranx~ [This message has been edited by wranx (08-21-2002 11:58 AM).] |

Ooo ... sinister poem here, wranx. It reminds me of a dream I had once where I was crossing in a bus over this long bridge, and a tornado came through and tore out the bridge in front of us. I remember falling through the air, seeing the sea reeling closer. I slammed my head against the ceiling. We crashed through the water. Muted screaming. I drowned. Then ... for hours ... the dream was complete blackness, and I could hear the sounds of water lapping against the metal frame. Freaky stuff. No wonder I am how I am. Loved the poem. Mike |

I wake up face down on my bed in the postition I was falling and i always wake up as if i've hit the bottom and I hear a big splat as well. Not very nice is it. Then I ahd another one like BS's drowning dream except after i drwon I woke up. And the first ever dream I rember I got crushed under a big rock and I felt my head being crushed. If your afraid of the dark, then why did you come? |

they say it is a memory from our aboreal ancestors the ones that hit the ground did not have progeny and hence left no memeory trace to pass on to future generations Except one !!!! it would seem arthur |

I liked this one, especially for its humour. You've done a rather good job using techniques like personification, especially with the ground making your acquaintance. Also, I like the "crush / that follows the rush" bit, lol. "If history is to change, let it change. If the world is to be destroyed, so be it. If my fate is to die, I must simply laugh" |

Yep, I know the feeling. I get those dreams a lot, but I always wake before I hit the bottom. I've heard that too...that if you hit the ground you won't wake up. Unlike you, I haven't had the chance to disprove the theory though. You can never win or lose |
