I enter the sterile room The scent of incense masks the perversion I slip my arms through the veil, reaching for security Embraced by a being playing God A sickness comes over me as the twisted ritual plays out I look at my Husband; he is smiling Anxious to receive his reward Refusing the oath I am taken to another floor The room is draped with burgundy My garments are removed The Elders fantasies fulfilled Their eyes say what they are thinking One of the Elders begins to read in a tongue I have not heard My husband responds saying Elohim, Elohim Then a young woman enters the room My husband calls her by name She speaks to him using the same foreign words On the altar she lays a dagger wrapped in linen Through your death another will be sent Cleansed by your blood I bring the dagger to my chest Awakened by a voice calling my name Sweat pouring from my body The familiar bed comforts me Standing in the doorway In a soft voice he says We will go to the temple today |
