“Spanish Moss Mardi Gras”

Sing sultry spring
Purple billows fill
Blackening bellows
Leaf dance
Sway willows
Wind caress satin breast

Trees wicked lash
Spanish Moss Mardi Gras
Silver shot streaked
Sky shatters cracked
Crypt flicker

Gargoyles gaze grinning
Gawking
Taunting
Smolder beckons
Into shadow swirl

Warm marble skin
Mock mirrors
Cold granite kin

His eyes illuminate
Pale beauty
With lust luster

At once, captured
Trapped sweet
And released
Freed and again

Animal ardor animates
Passions’ beast
Snarling howls fill
Hollow echo,
Pierce stillness
Then stilled

Passions beast
Now two
Cooling quiet, steams
On wet moss
Sing sultry spring

~wranx

is sometimes, intolerable.

serenity is here. *chuckle*

and my immediate thought, that your shack on the river MUST be on the Mississippi...I do not listen to weather forecasts or almanacs for the start of spring...and forget the groundhog, the closest thing to that is a nutria!

No...I watch the cypress. And when they start getting those tiny green buds on those twisted arm branches? I KNOW.

y'made me smile...the moss dancing is another favorite thing of mine. And I'm gonna shaddup now, before I write still yet another poem about it!

Thanks wranx. It thrilled me to see this through someone else's eyes and know I'm not alone.

Detailed as clear as crystal.
as vivid as a joint effort between Kodak and Polaroid.
Well done, wranx, my friend!

Ed:

I like this on you . . .
strangely I get the image of
a graveyard and weeping willows
I must get there someday . . .

for m'yeti?

And for Sue? Y'really wanna get there someday? I happen to know the way:
http://www.safetgallery.com/MoundPix/pages/Neg2105.htm

"The girls" and I used to go clean graves there--and you would be more than welcome.

It's a gorgeous place, and has been filmed in various movies as it's so hauntingly picturesque. On top of that hill, is a huge gorgeous Oak, dripping with Spanish Moss.

So, yes, someday? If you make it here before I kiss this mud goodbye, I'll have to show you. There's a swamp tour that goes by the place, much fun to waggle the breasts for the tourists. Kinda our version of "witches gone wild."

Karen . . . it is beautiful
See I am weird like that - that reminded me of Paris . . . where Morrison is buried.
When I went to Kauai . . . I had Bill stop so I could photograph the cemetaries . . . needless to say he realized he had married a crazy woman.
Clean graves?
But, dont go falling in love with any mud Lady . . . what was that?

Knock knock . . .
