Butterflies in Mouth. Tell me did you ride upon the nearest shooting star drifting here from afar wearing your pain like a proud scar. Did you finally dance upon the moon light-footed while feeding the sun with a spoon then returning far too soon? Tell me did you hold mother earth's hand, painting violet pictures in her warm sand then run naked catching her precious tears of raining fears upon your tongue pretending you loved while destiny sung? Tell me did you dream of the animals speaking in tongues while you rode the rainbow freely, sliding down from rose colored sky pretending you could fly with broken wings to forbidden places claiming them as your own private sanctified spaces? Tell me did you see, I was there begging you to hold me as you wrote your emotions down watching the words fall helplessly to the ground. Did you miss me in the outer atmosphere? My trembling fingers traced your travels from here and you held beautiful butterflies in mouth. "There is an alter ego which dwells within every soul." (C)alibaster 1999-2001 |

Thank you both for the kind comments, glad that you enjoyed. ...Actually doreen, I started out about 2 weeks ago with just a part of a sentence in my head..."butterflies in mouth" and it took me two weeks to come up with the rest to go with it...but you know I do have the Train song and the only lines that are actually all that similar is the "shooting star" and "tell me" parts...though I do like the song much and maybe in the back of my mind, yes, maybe it did inspire the rest of the poem.
