I haven't posted here for over a year and being that I've got a lot of new poetry, and I miss being here, I figured it was time to post again.  I just wrote this one today.

  Slicing Into Me

As I listen to your words
sometimes the lack-there-of
I take them in...
  tasting them, discecting them,
swallowing and digesting them,
I find that it is sadness
  that slices into me.
As I see what you have done
seeing also all that you haven't done,
seeing all that you've been,
I find that it is betrayal
  that slices into me.
When I look into your eyes
seeing all the truth
and uncovering all the lies seeing what I see,
I find that it is hate
   that slices into me.
When I look into my own eyes and find blackness
that shadows my past
and covers who I could be
I find that it is anger
  that slices into me.
When I look at all that surrounds me
at the world and how truly messed up
  it all really is
I find that it is hopelessness
  that slices into me.
And as i look at the people that surround me
at who and what they are
  the same things that I'll never be,
I find that it is jealousy
  that slices into me.
And as I stop
and take the time to experience
  all the things that I'mm feeling inside,
I find that it is hurt
  that slices into me.

Here, here. Touche'. So well stated that I dwelled on it's truism in my life for quite some time. Those slices...ouch. Love and other bruises...Time for those of us who understand this one all too well to give those slices back... and take our own little slice outta life, eh? Great poem.

Purity... thanks for your reply. I, too, have been dwelling on it since I wrote it yesterday. It is so true and vivid in my mind that it is scary. Anyway... thank you!
