Hitler's army marches on toward the sleeping rising world, the barbarian hoard waiting to be used, possessed, and drawn for the kill. Stalin scans, his eyes searching for slow dull sheep to be used as string for the mighty bow that will thrust his soul to the stars to look for power. The hateful spirit rises within the people, searching fruitlessly for goodness to devour, And I feel the cold ghost rise within me. "If history is to change, let it change. If the world is to be destroyed, so be it. If my fate is to die, I must simply laugh" |

Hey great job with this piece. You really conveyed it well. As I read it my eyes widened and I sat back in my seat, realising I was holding my breath. Amazing how words can impact us so much. Keep it up. Always, GG - And so it was that time stood still - |

Heh, thanks for the replies. Had to write this to get the *evil* outa my system. Hitler and Stalins are symbols of the evil in humanity here. I'm not saying I ally myself with any of their causes. The poem ends with a pessimistic conclusion in which the spirit of human evil rises in the speaker. "If history is to change, let it change. If the world is to be destroyed, so be it. If my fate is to die, I must simply laugh" |
