The Road Traveled By Many My life is traveling on the road of sin Temptation has taken control of the wheel Determined to steer my soul to hell As I travel these roads of deception I am heading for an unknown destination Missed opportunities of salvation At every exit I pass Thou I grow weary from this traveling I continue to drive on Hoping that what lies beyond the horizon Is a place I can call home A land of purity and forgiveness Does such a place exist? And if so, will I be a welcomed guest? The hypnotizing glare of this black path Is accentuated by the glowing light of the heavenly bodies above Which seems to pity the soul Whoa to the man who is blinded by this glare That sheds light on my soul Causing me to weep and seek comfort in the house of sin I indulge in pleasure until I am satisfied Then back to the road that is my fate Perhaps one day my journey will end And the assumed destination of my earlier proclamation Will make me a liar As the road of despair Becomes my road to hope My soul is strengthened by the thought And my body is immediately filled with holy fire Smiling confidently, I speed towards my salvation I know what I am up against But I am determined not to give in My healthy fear of temptation and the power it wields Prevents me from looking in my rear view mirror I can faintly hear Her songs of seduction Begging me Taunting me Laughing at me Admiring me Before sadly returning to Her house Eagerly awaiting my return Marcel |

Wow, very intense, the road calls to me now, but I am not sure how to answer. Good work, thought provoking. Sandra |

I had a mental image of the windshield wipers slapping from side to side in order to see more clearly where one might be headed down the road. Your ending could have stood all alone. Wonderful writing! |
