Sunsets and Sand

Soft sand
moving beneath my feet,
Leaving footprints behind me
only to be erased
by the tide,
reminding me
I am alone.
Your love,
behind me now,
is like those footprints
washed away by
the tide of time.
The setting sun
creates a fire
on the horizon.
Slowly burning out
the embers
never to be
rekindled
like a love gone cold.
The distance between us
widens
until you are no longer
in my sight

or my heart.

Dee...I have only been to the beach one time in my life. I can remember it well. thank you for this and bringing back my memories.
