Unspoken secrets
Hidden deep down inside
Wanting to be held
Yet resisting all seemingly loving embraces

The deep encompassing fear
Relentlessly pursuing me
Doggedly chasing at my heels
Waiting for that certain moment
When I will open my heart
Stand there, gaping and vulnerable,
And at the mercy of the world

Like a deadly poison
The promises and lies weave their way silkily into my thoughts
Disintegrating all logic and rationality
Leaving me as a rancid dinner
