Wind is blowing, shut the door
Leave behind the scars you wore
Travel down an empty street
Snow is falling, cry defeat

Footsteps press against the cold
Must keep treading, must be bold
Turn your face into the wind
See the darkness, often sinned

Pass a home, with lights shine bright
Serve as refuge from the night
Head is lowered, see it not
Dreams are born on army cot

Kick a lamp, fade to a dim
Sigh for wasted freezing limb
Shiver slightly, kiss the frost
Moon is mourning for the lost

Reach the edge of asphalt bleak
Enter forest, try to seek
Magic dreamland, all your own
Brush a branch upon the bone

See the traintracks, stretch afar
Stand between the edge's bar
Wish for coming of an end
Not a whistle late to send

Wish no more, open your eyes
Train won't come, look to the skies
Answer lies within the clouds
Extend an arm for distant shrouds

Leave the forest, pixies dead
Trudge thru mud with lowered head
Open door without a sound
Wait for morning's sunrise bound.

This is actually very good, Carly. An excellent portrayal of the wonders of taking a walk through the town. (which is what I gathered from it )
Pure Carly magic.

Hey Carly! Glad you posted! And I don't think it's "pure Carly magic", but just pure magic, Carly. lol, but they're almost all like that, so maybe he was right :-)

I thought this was simply wonderful carly. Nicely done here. What a beautiful poem.
I liked it even though you don't trust me.

Carly --- I see a similarity with Vreni's style on this one
This proves why i always say you are very talented
you have a broad imagination

I liked this poem. I got something a little different out of it than just a walk in town, but that's probably just my dark little mind.Great job though.
