Why oh why do we have memories? |

Just a quick note, this was written very quickly so if it is all whack and out of place just put it down to a rush. Why oh Why do we have memories? Why oh why do we have memories? Do they intend to lead us around? I thought that what you said on that hot night, Had passed over me like the wind in silence. Instead I remember it all, The scent, the sighing..the kiss. You've left me like a worm on a hook, Hanging on without a reason to breathe. Suddenly you appear again like a shadow, Basking in the suns almighty glory. I am so happy that you find this game amusing, I'm so glad breaking my heart is fun. In tears I cannot turn away from you, The words you speak sting like crazy. What on earth is wrong with me, Your existence has brought nothing to my world. I shake like I have been infected, With some deadly incurable disease. Yet you continue with your talking, Not noticing I am withering away to dust. Why do I pine for something as repulsive as you? When you had fun twisting me around? I am the strong one, the one who breaks people down, No one is ever meant to break me like you do. Why oh why do we have memories, When they just kill me like you do. -------- Ah yes. Gotta love talking to someone and bringing up memories that should have been left in the past. ~AF~ "Love makes us poets and the approach of death should make us philosophers." ~ George Santayana [This message has been edited by anonymousfemale (edited 02-25-2001).] |

"I thought that what you said on that hot night, Had passed over me like the wind in silence." "Suddenly you appear again like a shadow, Basking in the suns almighty glory." Wow ... very expressive AF! You have some great imagery within these lines, nicely done! I hope things work out ... stay strong ... Best wishes and hugs, /Kit |

There are certainly things that we don't want to remember, but we are forced to. I hope you can get past the memories and move on again. Your poem flowed well for me and seemed so honest, and I like your title. Yah, agreed with Kit, the best part was: "I thought that what you said on that hot night, Had passed over me like the wind in silence." absolutely beautifully expressed! JR |

Yes, this is magnificent. Sometimes haste actually serves to improve poetry. My favourite line was "hanging on without a reason to breathe." That one hit me hard. You know that you can always talk to me. Sorry I wasn't on earlier, I was asleep. But if you ever have to talk to me, Elizabeth, and I'm on, feel free. "Why oh why do we have memories, When they just kill me like you do" The reason why we have memories is because it help us remember the past and learn from it if we need to. I found this poem to be absolutely awesome! I completely understand what you wanted to say through it. I hope to read more of your poetry... this sadly I have to say was the first of yours that I have read. i hope to see more. I will probably be posting a poem titled "Painful Love," or " My World Is You." It has alot of similarity (?) in this poem... ** In tears I can not turn away from you ** It makes it seem like someone came into your life that did not treat you well and yet you could not leave. That's what my poetry leans toward in those two poems. I hope all works out well... and like acire said... you do have memories to learn from the mistakes... otherwise we'd keep messing up. Hope to see more of your poetry..-Always Carissa Neither the angels in heaven above,Nor the demons down under the sea,can ever dissever my soul from the soul, of the beautiful Annabel Lee -E.A.Poe |

Kit: Thankyou very much. Everything works itself out eventually and I will stay strong. Lakewalker: Honestly is a good thing to have and I'm glad that you liked it. Allan: Sleep? What do you need that for!? Yes I know and thankyou. Acire: Not all memories are bad, just the ones that make you think too much about them are. It's not really a great past time sitting down going "Now why did this happen?" etc and beating your head because of it. Carissa: I'll be sure to look out for these two poems when you post them. Yeah he was a prick but thats the way it goes unfortunately. Hey, if anything it makes you a stronger person for dealing with jerks like him. ~AF~ "Love makes us poets and the approach of death should make us philosophers." ~ George Santayana |
