What is wrong with the world today? |

Standing all alone Feeling unguided Surrounded by people yet I'm lost in the crowd Every person is different Each with their own mind People look past things that are unknown Did you see that little old lady to the left? Her grandson has cancer, her daughter is pregnant, she's one year away from retiring with the one she loves. Did you see that child that brushed beside you? She just lost her favorite bear, her parents are fighting, she got a new dog. Did you see that hurried man on his cell phone walk by? He is on the verge of a big sale at the office. His wife is cheating on him If he loses this client he loses the job! Did you see that little puppy walk beneath your feet? He's lost from his home, missing the only place he's ever known, he's hungry as he tramples through the lonely streets, he stumbles onto a bone it'll be his food for tonight! Did you see me as I hurried past? Or were you to caught up in yourself? I'm a little confused with the world today! However, I got a raise! My feelings were hurt when I smiled at you and you just walked by. Do you see the world you are living in or is it merely scenery for the jumbled thing you call you're daily routine? You see the lady you passed, the man, the child, the dog, and me are all part of who you are. Perhaps you should stop to notice the next to pass you by. *that what does not kill us makes us stronger!* *Everyone can deal with pain in their own way, some things are just harder than others!* [This message has been edited by Angelwings (edited 06-11-2001).] |

This was great! I really loved this one! It shows something I was reading the other day in a Leonardo DaVinci book .......He always felt that people were living without life......seeing without sight.......tasting without taste....and so on. I felt that within this poem the tidious routine of an everyday life can just make you drown all the beauty within the simplicity of tasting a bagle, or, like in this poem, realizing what was around him. I liked this poem a lot. very nicely done! I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust. |

im under pressure. those replies were huge..ahhh... ok well...here i go. Your very right...i do it alot i just look likfe lately through glazed eyes, dazed. I used to wonder what and where and and all those questions, when i saw people walking across the street, or when i was eating. As the world i knew became more known, more familiar, i forgot all the simple things in life. Its quiet sad, how that happens alo. Maybe we don't dream enough anymore? Where did all the fantasy go in life? As more corruption, death, silly govnt official rule, our minds, our horizions become smaller and insignificant. ok whoa....just wanted to say. amaizng work. definite library piece. Regina |
