Why do I say the things I say
and why do I do the things I do
what is it that makes me turn away
what is it that makes me leave you

You loved me from day one
from the moment my life existed
and one by one the days are done
and your love I always resisted

Time and time again I treated you like dirt
left you there hanging waiting for me
I couldnt see that it was myself I hurt
every time I turned my back on thee

Don't understand why I allow my self to fall
you always stated I had the strength to overcome
as long as I kept you as my all in all
and followed the beat of your persistant drum

I don't comprehend after all the love you give
I continue to nail you to that cursed tree
and each time you seem so quick to forgive
and in your infinite might you still love me

And when it was all said and done
Amazingly the creator of heaven and earth
would take his time to send his son
allow this thing called life to birth.

Forgiveness in the highest extreme
sending your only son to die
his blood covers me like a stream
and in his grace I lie

So basically comes down to this
it's you I love and nothing more
though I betrayed you with a kiss
I'm not going back to the ways of before.

So now a living sacrifice something pure
a servant a son an heir to your kingdom
forgiven me of the sin disease your holy cure
and by your sons sacrifice you gave me freedom
