We slog like tireless ants ignoring our weary grimances beneath our expressionless masks striving to climb the prosperity ladder hoping numbly that happiness would be ours Yet happiness may well be a concrete entity It is attained: when I cross unscathed a road of honking motorbikes when excited children enthusiastically wave hi when a smile spreads across a weather-beaten street child as I offer a plastic bottle when I learn to say Thank You and someone blushes when the waves tease me temptingly then twist me around in all sorts of contortations when I suffer no motion sickness despite undesirable gruelling rides when I see a rooster crossing a street and cows being lovey-dovey when I sit down to exchange horror stories and savour strong coffee with companions worldwide when all I have are the possessions in my backpack and a willingness not to acquire more |

I've always dreamed of backpacking across Europe... what adventures you must have encountered! I love this piece, and yes, it must make everything clear to do something like that. I hope to join you someday in that understanding. Thanks for sharing. "Men judge generally more by the eye than by the hand, for everyone can see and few can feel."-Machiavelli |

Looks like you wrote while backpacking a lot. I really like your new stuff and I want to see more more more! I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust. |

Lovebug, its always good to travel...you get to learn about different cultures and customs but most importantly, you realise how blessed you truly are and come to terms with your existence more readily...i hope you will do likewise some day... albert, thanx for the read and yup, i hope to share more soon.... javier, no, i didn't write during backpacking but i hope to reflect on those fun-filled 11 days and come up with a series of journal poems.....thanx for your anticipation |

I presume this is your experience in Vietnam? I think I can picture it, what with the photos and this 'image' of the countryside |
