Long time since I wrote anything here...a little Ode for all to enjoy.... =) ODE TO FREEDOM I. Grassy plains stretch through horizons, Great seas run on past line of sight. Mountains boast peaks shielded by cloud, And the sun gleams on, though it is night. A monk, who speaks not, eats not, nor moves, Yet such is man, a true human being. Incredulous cohorts see what they want! Yet seeing not knowing, knowing not seeing. II. A furtive fox slinks, as he stalks game, And bats cry out to find what will be caught. The fox eats savagely, as much as can be, But the bat sees tomorrow, as often as not. The bat will kill such foolhardy men, Who fear not the fox when all is assured. Men oft outwit these sly, quiet creatures! Yet are killed by what is constantly heard. III. Sour medicines cure all humanity, The tastiest treats are deadly by far. Clogs created by what we consume Drop the richest of men straight where they are. Tricked, oft, by their own indulgence, Leaders felled by miscarried policy. Tongues can be tricked by unlooked for poisons, Mortal for some, or passion for many. IV. Roses, tulips, flowers in general, Smell as they look, yet filled with spite. A lovers tool, a heartfelt gift, Or an easy way out, for the contrite. Trash, rubbish, garbage in piles, Maggots crawl through the innocent. But rotting flesh, christened a rose, Would smell still just as pungent. V. Society deceives, and will blind the imprudent, They show you what you’ve already bought. Those of enlightenment wander alone, Liberating masses from their “free thought.” Society; the bat, rose, monk all in one! He beguiles the mob, gives them their stand. He leads them on, but only those who will go… So do you walk alone, or does he hold your hand? "By other ways, by other ferries, not here, shalt thou pass over: a lighter boat must carry thee." "I AM CANADIAN!!" |

Very well done....i found this poem to be simply amazing. The message within it is awesome. I loved it...nice to see you back! I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust. |

You used many very, very descriptive words, some of which confused me a lil bit cuz they were so big, lol, but the last stanza kinda made me understand it. This is really good. ~*Nikki*~ ~*Of all the millions of people in the world, I'm just me.*~ |

This is incredible...it made me think of the underground movement with ode to joy --freude-- as compared to ode to freedom --freiheit-- ok maybe i read too much into things, but i really enjoyed this poem! Okay, first things first: GO CANADA! Secondly: Loved the imagery. Very spiffy. Thirdly: I almost wanted to sing Ode to Joy in German again. Call me weird... |
