“Beyond the Surface” Outcast Rebel Insane Is what they say But they do not see who Or what it is that they are dealing with Dangerous Silent Evil Why is it that they say these things? But they do not look beyond the surface Seeing only that which they wish to see Gentle Kind Giving Should they not look to say these instead? That is what they would see if they looked beyond their own means Strong Compassionate Merciful Is what they should see But I doubt this will ever be For those around us choose only to see what they wish to see It's too bad I'm not as wonderful a person as people say I am, because the world could use a few people like that. |

Your words are so completely true...people only see what they want to most the time. Exellent writing, keep it up! *Krista Knutson* |

Yes, indeed some people only really see what they want to. It's unfortunate too. Well done on the poem. ~Allan Build a man a fire, and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life. |

I love the structure of this poem. It really makes the flow excellent. Nice work.. I liked this a lot. Thanks for the great read. --Marie subconsciously, i think i can eat so much to make my stomach hurt, instead of my heart. |

You're so right in some senses....but....don't those around us also chose to portray what they wish to portray? Just like we do?.... nice poem. I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust. |
