"Another School Shooting" Afraid to walk into school Frightened of what might be waiting "What if these fears come true again?" The mind begins contemplating What once was fun no longer is Only memories of what used to be A place you once liked to go Is a place you can no longer feel free What has now become of us? As we turn OUR school into a jail Almost everything can get us in trouble And love no longer counts as bail No one paid attention to the "OUTCAST" For no one would dare lend a loving hand The "OUTCAST" was then filled with hate Felt it must make a loud and knowing stand The "OUTCAST" then brought a bomb into the school Tried to show how we’ve tortured it’s soul The "OUTCAST" then noticed we were to blind to see And it wanted to make sure we will NEVER again be whole You say its really not "OUR" fault But you know that it is deep down Someone else may pull the trigger But for your lack of love we now must frown Innocent teens are now forever lost For no one dared to share their love We now pray to the souls that were lost As they now watch us from above It is truly OUR fault Though you may still be to blind to see If we join together in love We may once again set ourselves FREE By: Dana Samples 4-16-01 [This message has been edited by Dana Samples (edited 04-16-2001).] |

This is a very well written poem, Dana. It's a situation that many of us wish was not true, but sadly, it is. Nicely done. --Marie subconsciously, i think i can eat so much to make my stomach hurt, instead of my heart. |

Good to know this didn't happen in yer school. Weird how this poem got by me....Thank God it was brought back up. I liked it. I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust. |

"A place you once liked to go is a place you no longer feel free" This is a brilliant line because it focusses on the fact that some places which could mean the world to you can no longer mean anything at all if you feel trapped when you are there! This is an excellent poem and I really enjoyed it. Truly appreciative ^*~Kicking Kim~*^ |

this is really sad and you did a really excellent job capturing the situation. keep posting all your work. Sometimes, the things that go unsaid are the only things worth hearing. |
