She hides it with her smile,
With her athleticism,
And with her good grades.
The world would not believe it,
Even if she confessed.
"Not you,"
They would say,
"You're too smart,
And too strong to do that."
But she does do it,
And its grip on her is tightening.
It's taken control of her,
And made her its puppet,
Powerless in defense,
And unable to resist.
She appears healthy,
Yet her insides are slowly rotting away.
The foul smell lingers on her hand
While the splash marks on her pants
Threatens the survival of the secret.
And she is not alone,
There are many others.
They unknowingly share
In a secret club
Where they seem to be the only members.
She surveys the crowd,
Wondering who else shares her secret,
But they don't stand out.
She, along with them,
Is just another face in the crowd.

I never thought that you would ever be the one to let me down. I guess that just goes to show how wrong I always am.

Wow....this one, jsut like the other, very dramatic, and def going into my library. If these are you, I have to say, talk to someone, don't do anything selfdestructive, people will listen.

You're a good narrator with your poems.  Have you tried writing prose.  I think you should go check out the forum "Passions in Prose"  Thanks for the read

I agree with allan, free verse this good makes me jealous.  *sigh*  at least it gives me something to aspire to.

Wow, Marie. The images I was getting just then were mind blowing. I'm sorry you had to go through all of this. It's tough. *hugs*
