I died today . . . He took a gun to all of us All 7 of us just lay there And the audience laughed . . . That was just a play, But I heard he had a gun And pointed it at someone I used to be close to . . . I’m scared . . . They told me not to be But I just can’t help it Wouldn’t you fear for your life? What are you supposed to do, When you’re scared to go to school? I’m scared that our play Might become reality. 010322 i dont know if i should cry because its over, or smile because it happened |

Oh Tamma, you have no idea of how I can relate to this. There have also been threats and weapon incidents at my school. The violence in American schools has touched us all, I think, and it's made us all afraid. You describe these feelings well. All I can say is that there is only one true security, and that exists in God's kingdom and within His will. Put your trust in Him. ![]() "Men judge generally more by the eye than by the hand, for everyone can see and few can feel."-Machiavelli |

No offense, but I don;t think god's gonna help the situation any. Anyway Tamma, al you can really do is trust the school. It also doesn't seem to help in many schools, but for every school shooting you hear about, there are two or three prevented. I know what you're feeling though, it HAS touched us all: there are two or three students in my school who've been kicked out for making threats. I trust the school in that they are capable of keeping the students safe if worse comes to worse. Be strong Tamma. "Some men see things as they are and say why. |

hey, we dont have shootings in schools over here in australia but i've heard about them over there, its so tragic! oh & elevnblood - God's can intervine in any situation if you have faith. He is certainly one to turn to and trust in that sort of situation - who else would be capable of that but Him...? I'd have to say that faith is a good thing to have, sure. It is nice to think that someone is pulling for you. But in situations this serious, take a breath of reality. Put your trust in something earthly, like teachers. Faith is nice, but unreliable. Talk to the people you can see and touch. Sure, pray too if it makes you happy, pray your little heart out. But make sure you also talk to the inhabitants of YOUR planet. There are humans who are reliable, who you can ask to help and who you can depend on. Teachers, guidance counsellors, and friends. So go and find one of them. These people can help you. ~Allan If I had your eyes, I'd be blind. For I can only see out of my own. ~~Carly Van Dort |

You could always pray for the strength to talk to someone, and if you believe it is Him who gave it to you, then you're not really putting your trust in earthly things. There is a way to explain everything through Him, if you want or need to. Oh, the poem, yeah, great job of expressing your feelings owards this Tamma! First things first, luvnkris. We DO have shootings over here in Australia. How do you explain the incident over in New South Wales where a young person was shot dead. How about Melbourne in a school where another person was killed? You might not have them over in Perth, but we sure do have them on the East Coast. These sorts of situations are going to occur with or without the assitance of faith. To believe in something is great, as everyone believes in one little thing that can change the world. I think it's odd though, that you want to put all your trust in a greater power. Having faith in something that is just little extra special is what everyone has, whether they say so or not. The way things will change is by you. You are person that controls your own fate. If you put everything in a little box and ask God to make it all better, what are you going to do when He disappoints you? Perhaps you should think about changing these sorts of situations by yourself and not with the help of an invisible man. Just a personal opinion. I hope no one yells at me for this. Your piece was really well expressed, Tamma. ~AF~ "It is not necessary to change. Survival is not mandatory." |

Yanno, I WOULD trust teachers, and other school officials, If they would acctually DO SOMETHING about it. Whenever we have a bomb threat, they send us outside for 10 mins, and "act" like they're searching the school. One girl on my bus said it best: "They won't take anything serious, until something happens." The principals seem to act like its just a joke...That might be all it is...but how would they know??? i dont know if i should cry because its over, or smile because it happened |

You are right Tamma, they should be taking it seriously. Someday it could be real, then none of them will want to take responsibility for not checking it out good enough. I know that it would take more time out of day if they searched better or actually did something about it, but I think everyone feeling safe is worth the time. I really do think it's a shame about all these shootings. Lately, lots of people have an attitude like "Oh, another school shooting." And let it roll off their backs like it's no big deal. It's like we're used to it, but the fact is, it should have never gotten to the point where we're used to it. It should be taken more seriously. Great poem, Tamma. I liked it a lot. You put a lot of emotion into this, and I know what you mean. Good job. --Marie I never thought that you would ever be the one to let me down. I guess that just goes to show how wrong I always am. |

Tamma you've brought about very important thoughts within this poem. Times are changing, sometimes for the best, and other times for the worst. These shootings that are occurring are simply horrible, and quite horrifying if you ask me. I once played paintball and (I was pretty good) I was shaking my little tooshie off cuz I didn't wanna get hit by those little balls. They hurt man.....so yea....imagine a BULLET. Nicely done Tamma, you always manage to bring society's happenings into your work. That is, if the poem isn't about your love life hehe.... ![]() ![]() I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust. |

On my way home yesterday, I heard about another school shooting in California...I'm so thankful that my school hasn't had anything like that happen. I don't understand why some teens do that. I probably never will. It has become a MAJOR problem....I think we could do something to stop it, but what? Is is alright with you if I copy this off of here and let my OTAD sponser read it? OTAD is a group that tries to stop the use of drugs, promotes traffic safty and helps prevent violence in schools. I think maybe, with your permission, we could use it in our next Assembly. ~*Malinda*~ |

GGGGRRRRR. Well we're your taking a step tward a solution here. Talking about this with peers is the only way to get any where. If you ask me todays youth is brainwashed by the unhealthy levels of mass media offerd to them. I think alot of the problem lies there. I'm not talking violent movies, games, music, etc. but rather that people are just loseing a grasp on reality. I'm SOOO sorry that you have to be scared to go to school. I go to college in Downtown Detriot, and if you ever been there it's not a nice neiborhood, but I've NEVER been scared to go there, I guess there is something wrong with me, but I don't know what the solution is and I see no reason to live in fear. I honestly think that the root of the ploblem lies in how much the media has taken over our culture. It's just my opinion, but they are messing some kids up if you ask me. SO yeah, now that I've rambled on and on, I think that ppl need to lay off this whole "thing" that the media tells them they are and figure out what's real again. Sorry for rambling good poem Tamma It's a serious (sad) issue Jason |
