The shadows on the wall,
Are growing larger each day.
When I step into the darkness,
I can make them go away.

Like a frightened child,
I hide in this dark place,
I'm safe in this loneliness,
And I can finally hide my face.

The times when light comes in,
And dances in the dark,
I want to keep the hope,
To hold on to that spark...

But it's so small that I wonder,
How do I keep it bright?
I want to help it grow,
And fill my life with light.

If the light returns,
Will the shadows too?
They shadows are why I run to hide,
From my life, from love and from you.

So here is where I stand,
I need to make a choice.
Should I quiver in the darkness?
Or reach within and find my voice?

I can fight those shadows,
Because they are not what's real.
But I have a broken heart,
And a broken soul that needs to heal.

It's time to face my fears,
Time to take a chance,
Time to mend my broken life...
And in the light I'll dance.

--Marie

I never thought that you would ever be the one to let me down. I guess that just goes to show how wrong I always am.

Very positivive poem! I liked it! I know you are going through some tough times, but you must always have hope. Dance in the light, and if you need a partner don't hesitate to ask for one

I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust.

I'm in love with my shadow
I admire it daily

Absolutely fantastic Marie! This is definitely going into the library.
I hope your situation improves soon and don't hide in the shadows. They eventually consume you and that's not pretty ok.

I think you've figured out what you need to do. Never hide from your fears. You always have to confront it

I loved the theme and questions to it.
But there were a few lines that hurt the flow... you had an amazing flow to begin with, I was mouthing the words as I read it.
But then you began making the last two lines of each stanza LONGER, and that was NOT a good idea. It made the whole outstanding flow you created fall to shreds.
But officially, it is a great poem. You expressed yourself well.

I especially liked the last stanza of this one, beautifully written and very positive.  this goes straight into the library.
