A taste of our past (an idea) |

I have noticed a few poems posted in here from people's past, like the first year or so of their writing poetry. I think that it would be a fun project for us to pull out and share a few of our poems from when we were just novice poets, to get an idea where we all started, as opposed to where we ended up. We all have such interesting and diverse styles that I am fascinated in how each of you began your poetic lives. I know, myself, that my poetry at first was FAR different than it is now, and I would like to see where each of you came from, contrastively to your current style. So find something from your earliest days and post it. Good idea, ne? I'm sure we'll learn a lot about each other! here's mine, I wrote it at the age of about eight, within my first year of writing-- Hall of Frames A portrait lies on one of these walls buried so far within these halls a portrait of a boy who isn't me Among pictures of men who want to be great and pictures of women obsessed with their weight none of us are who we want to be But these pictures, they are all the same each is just an empty frame few people dare to even lift a brush A little boy will try to stray "Smarten Up" his parents say and all the little boy can do is blush As older portraits fade away for newer ones that they make way the pictures on the walls remain the same! And not a man will shake his head and not a woman cry in bed if the only difference, really, is the frame So someday I will leave this hall remove my picture from the wall and paint my portrait as I see it fit Lined with poetry and fantasies and coloured in the way I please as for the frame? I'll do away with it. -Hehehe... not too great, i know, but keep in mind it WAS one of my first. The others are amazingly abstract and sad, i'm not going to bother showing you. So get crackin'! I don't want to be the only one sharing this childhood poetry! -Allan < !signature--> Eternal life without the darkness isn't life at all- it is a lobotomy. Allan, All i can say is WOW! You wrote that at 8? That is a wonderful poem at such a young age and what a great meaning it truly holds if you try hard to see. ~Amanda~ |

I can't even write like that now haha. Well I don't know........seems kind of shady for me to post something that is horrible. I'll think about it. I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust. I'm in love with my shadow I admire it daily |

I think the most writing I ever did back then were like: I had a dog who lived in a bog and looked like a frog and sat on a log. So I didn't start out great like you, who cares Thanks for sharing this one, I really didn't start writing a lot until this spring, maybe I'll look at some of my stuff back then. Excellent poem, Lakewalker. The flow works nicely, and the message within is truly incredible. The rhyme scheme is well worked-out also. This could be my favourite of your work. "I had a dog who lived in a bog" this was my favourite part. Never stop amazing us, Lakewalker! ~_^ -Allan |
