The Light Of Dreams As the last ember gives way to the shadows of the night A little warrior gazes out at all the wonders of this land Visions soar to the wisdom ... traced in the eagle's flight Grasping a breeze of heaven and clenching it in his hand The spirits of a thousand warriors dance upon the wind Swirling in a storm of thought ... filling his native soul Each star promises a lesson as one by one they descend Bringing the strength of a nation to aid the hunter's goal Sleep will come tonight ... under the sky of passing times Flowing through his heart encased in a legend of streams The song of the buffalo now singing in the willows chimes As youth turns to manhood and tradition lends to dreams Sacred are the rituals ... though they only live in the dance The hunt is in the never ... forever stitched within the seams The little warrior weeps tonight as he knows his only chance Trickles down the feather to be born into the light of dreams Mark Bohannan If you find yourself stranded in a storm ...then reach for my hand and we will play in the puddles together |

BrotherMark~ Upon the quiet of the early morning - This gift - this gifting of your spirit ~ What a joy to behold. 'The little warrior weeps tonight as he knows his only chance Trickles down the feather to be born into the light of dreams' You've taken a step forward, into the sacred circle of the Vision Quest, that knows no end. May the fire of your spirit burn with the discovery of who you are to be. Love you~ ~*White Feather*~ smiles. ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

What a beautiful vision! (sigh) I love dreams. All the spirits and well-said fantasy fit very well together here, you speak of the light of dreams so very well. May the stars speak to us with faith and wisdom and love. Excellent poem, my friend, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |

Visions soar to the wisdom ... traced in the eagle's flight Grasping a breeze of heaven and clenching it in his hand The spirits of a thousand warriors dance upon the wind Swirling in a storm of thought ... Each star promises a lesson as one by one they descend ========================= Sleep will come tonight ... under the sky of passing times Flowing through his heart encased in a legend of streams ======================= Sacred are the rituals ... though they only live in the dance The hunt is in the never ... forever stitched within the seams ====================== Trickles down the feather to be born into the light of dreams =============================== your so cool it rises off the page poet spirit ... and how cool is this line..... "each star promises a lesson as one by one they descend" and this one "Sacred are the rituals ... though they only live in the dance" AND this one... "Trickles down the feather to be born into the light of dreams" waaaay cool ... awesome write Mark... effects and impresses the same way it did when I read another "indian spirit" inspired poem when you first came. the imagery in this is your usual grace and the message is poetic perfection. very cool write ... but then so is the poet mind if I file this in me library ... under MCB "she calls me baby ... she calls everybody baaaaby". ~jc mellencamp~ ;) |

serenity-Thank you for that wonderful reply and yes...much of the tradition is sacred and my hopes are that it remain so. Kit-I am always gifted with a smile whenever you visit and I thank you dearly for that. I am glad that you found the beauty in this one. Marge-The journey to finding who I am to be is the most beautiful part and I am only taking notes along the way so as to have something to fall back on. Thank you so much and I am honored that you felt the spirit in this piece. Charisma-Yes my friend, I knew that from some of your works and I thank you so much for your kind reply and for the link. You can bet that I will be going there to check it out and sign this petition...so a double thanks to you. Noah-I think we all love dreams. The secret is in knowing that all dreams are possible with the right frame of mind and vision into the soul. Thank you much. Victoria- If I left you with any kind of feeling that would cause you to find a calmness then I am grateful. Thank you much. Sunshine-To always be is definitely where this one is headed. Thank you much. JM-Thank you so much my friend for not letting me give up on this one. I know that special surprise for everyone didn't work out but I am not going to give up on it. Your words always encourage me to stretch just a little more so that I can see what your reaction will be the next time. The graphics are of course being put into the cowboy's museum of lifted "gif's" and I thank you for that too. Koko-Thank you so much for those wonderful words. I am glad that you find my style nice to read and your praise is not taken lightly. Martie-Talk about open spirits....just look in the mirror my friend. You are one of the ones that I am learning from in my poetry and the vision you bring to us daily is one that I strive to achieve. Thank you from that bottom of my heart. Mother_Earth-Whether we have native ancestory or not I believe it is important to know the past and the ties, so don't give up on it yet. Thank you for your ever encouraging words and I am so thankful that you have joined us here. You make it seem more comforting and definitely more beautiful with your poetry. Kathleen-Thank you much. A small tribute but it would take many librarys of novels to give the tribute that ALL Native Americans deserve. I am honored that you liked it. Mark, I love it when a cowboy crosses the floor to write of the realm. The dream circle always has room for a true spirit. Ascendant one how you inspire me. This line alone stands in the annal of masterpiece. "Sleep will come tonight ... under the sky of passing times" write on Keth Those of us who refuse to risk and grow get swallowed up by life. Another great piece. Might you be interested in fantasy reading? I wonder because you are very powerful with mythical (or what I consider mythical) language. It gives your poems a certain and very powerful edge. Great piece indeed. CD |

CD-Thank you so much. Mythical to some but very realistic spirits to others. I am very much interested in Native American culture and I am trying to find some connection with it myself as I have a hope that it will hold some answers to my life. I really do appreciate the wonderful comments. You will come to know that the true mythical writings from me are when I try to pen of love. NOW that is MYTHOLOGY.LOL Nice to see you enjoying yourself here. |

very beautifully portrayed, the ritual of dance with the spirit, that brings life. To envision the enchantment of the dance, It brings a peacefulness as all is let go and released unto the heavens. Great job as usual. |

I remember you going on this discovery about the same time as I did mine (within a few months even) and how alike we both seemed to be looking at life at that space in time. A lot of that time stuck with me, and I hope it did with you also. Absolutely nothing like it was there? Great write Mark. |
