In The Blink of a Wink I winked a bad dream out last night An episodic nightmare. It happens when I don't eat right And I over do the fare. I did not think that chips and beer Could bring about base duress The taste was good and good the cheer But my dreams became a mess. I turned and twist and flung my arms Retained little of the dream The dream was not Delilahs charms More explosive and extreme. My pillow damp, I had a cramp Sat up the rest of the night. Leaned over and switched on the lamp And the mirror showed me white. I looked into this ghostly leer Made a promise to my soul There'd be no more of chips and beer Till perhaps the super bowl. Well what did you expect a fan I only do the best I can. |
