ODE TO THE OBSTINATE As Deviance may spark the light Where Darkness never dawns, In fractal admiration from A thousand useless pawns; Upon the dreamless seas of Hope Waves of misguided trust All drift away through slow decay Till once again they're dust! As tired eyes befall shadow, Lo, Sanctuary's bliss, There comes a reckoning of shame For all we've seemed to miss. Reality, as white hot steel, May scald the plaintiff's eyes, But who, yet there, by dawn would dare Step forth to claim that prize? And who should give Reason to Pause, If in truncated thought? Or stand to gain from stale applause Of the weak and distraught? Or claim Freedom within the chains Of the unbidden mind? To never see by gelded reigns By all accounts, they're blind! Michael anderson But dreams of those who dream as I, Aspiringly, are damned and die. EAP |

It is a song that rises from a bleeding wound ... or a smiling mouth. ~Kahlil Gibran~ |

WHY AM I LAUGHING???? This is a beautifully penned poem, written with your customary artistry, you KNOW I love your work, but for some reason this morning (oh. afternoon.) I find this amusing....I think methinks I will read this one aloud to "HIM" lol...just so I can see that "deer caught in headlights" look and hear him say "huh?" Oh. THAT'S why I'm laughing....lol...thank you michael. |

Michael, I admire your talent for many reasons, but what strikes me about this is your dead-on accuracy and consistency in style. I see many poets attempt to write in a formal, period style, and they usually waiver. Not you, not ever you. And hey, who you callin' obstinate (said the Taurian)? Corinne |

Irish Rose, Sanctuary probably would be bliss for most of us, if we only knew where to truly find it. Janet Marie, didn't feel so cool when I was writing it, but I'm glad you enjoyed. Sunshine, ditto Amy, I am trying to spend a little more time writing presently - I will try to keep something worthwhile in view for all of you. It's great to see/hear from you again as well. Always glad to see you smiling. serenity, I'm glad I got you laughing with this one. There was a tinge of sarcastic humor it, I really felt alot of people might read this and see someone in there. Just don't tell "him" where I live... LOL AniKay83, A pleasure to make your acquaintance, glad you enjoyed. PdV, I'm sure the truly obstinate would know this could not possibly be for them... LOL Doreen, one of these days we'll all have to get together again somewhere back there. Miss you all too. Corinne, Taurian huh? Yikes. Most likely I was just calling myself obstinate here, truly, though I would have to admit to having used a few others as easy reference... LOL No names to ever be revealed. emmalouise, Nice to meet you. So glad you enjoyed the read. I will look for some of your work as well. Elizabeth, well, I can safely say you were NOT one of the obsinates that may have influenced this piece, but I still hope you can appreciate it. Poeminister, you praise always mean much to me, thank you. And thank you all for the kind replies. Michael |

For the "obstinate", eh?... It certainly does seem that those for whom its most fitting refuse to see themselves, doesn't it??... You do put it aptly, my friends... |

Michael, it's always so pleasing to read your work when I visit. Your understanding and gift of language is quite refreshing. This is superb. Thanks for it. Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |
