the thoughts in her head that were once childlike dreams have now given way to adult nightmares flying, flowing, flittering about she hears them in the silences between the beats of her once red heart now emptied of color it lies black, black as night but her mind still remembers a time when the world was a warm happy place her heartbeat strong full of love full of life the sweet smell of a flower garden blossoming in the spring bursting forth with every color of the rainbow reds, yellows, blues, greens, pinks, purples surround her soul but that was before before all of this before the darkness that covered her eyes before the color of night filled her rainbow the blackindigo spirit presence matching the blackred of her heart a cold wind blows through this place now this quagmire of loss and pain that is her home they're with her now all of her old friends pain hurt loss anger anguish she knows them all too well they open their arms to her although she embraced them for a brief time she knows the moment has come to conquer her fears once again, life and love take her gently by the hand guiding her down the primrose path her heart beats true as family and friends shower her with compassion she draws strength from them her once empty heart now overflowing once again she walks with her head high with the grace, dignity, and honor she harbored all along alas, she is free -------------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

Lone Wolf and Sven: My gosh~ You two penned such a deeply sorrowful, yet a hopeful, beautiful poem. I relate very much. Wow ~ Sven, you really are exploring your dark side This poem flows perfectly, and the presentation really enhances the emotion. Take care, Melissa The beauty of poetry gives my soul wings to fly free within dreams |

Thank you all for your replies and comments. This is the first poem Sven and I have ever written together. Sven . . . Thank you for asking me to write this one. You are welcome for the ideas, but you had some good ones yourself. Poetry should surprise by fine excess...it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts and appear almost a remembrance. -J.Keats |
