Epitome of Loneliness Virginia Salter Maybe if she stood at the mirror she’d not feel so all alone. Maybe if she sought assistance they’d make of her a clone. But, then she’d wake beside herself and be fit to be tied. She’d run away like those before, though they had truly tried. She’s asked herself, “What manner of man could find some joy in her? What might she do to lift herself for right relationship to occur?” Advice is always given “Just be yourself, my friend.” Yet when she is, it’s guaranteed, the relationship will end. Opposites attract, that’s what they always say, so maybe a clone upon her head is what would save the day. They wouldn’t have to talk for they be standing head to toe. So maybe if their words were spared half of them’d not be bound to go. One could be ‘me’ the other be ‘myself’ They could get rid of ‘I,’ Yes put it on the shelf. No eternal triangle to mess up who they are no third party diversion to give them cause to spar. Then perhaps they’d find some smiles and some frowns but only either one of them would be feeling upside down. Always one would be ‘up’ quite cheery and content so that the other’d deliver compliment. Now I tell you my friend I know not what to do to end this silly charade and bid adieu to you. © January 20, 2001 |
