I / Will You were lost when my eyes found yours unfocused and without direction, they now glare at this ending, this point, reflecting broken images in shards of shattered happiness, scattering our days into slivers of darkness, confusing nights with shivering silence, fragile resolve cracked. The split, separating I from will dissolution mirrored as tears blink back, damning the pain to rot in fallow soil, where love failed to grow and weeds now thrive, sepulchral monuments rising in vulgar witness to mark the fallen, who lie among them in caustic decay praying for deliverance from eroding pain. Forsaking the memory, a dark horizon looms seeking to change my world, reaching out, to pull me forward with the promise of what is possible, in every tomorrow. |
