BOOGEYMAN

It's but, in grim reality,
The man that I could never be
Who steps forth from the pages lost
That none but I should know the cost...

...Of endless nights, yet filled with pain.
...Of daily deeds, yet spilled in vain
Attempts to reconcile a dream
I once held proud, with self-esteem.

Tormented eyes before the dawn
That see, full-well, the best is gone,
With all inside bereft of hope,
Another bloodshot day to cope...

Now stares me in the face and grins
And dares me not recall my sins
Before the throne of all above,
Or all in life I once dared love.

As the echoes of laughter fade
In the face of Promises made,
I stand, a faceless man, and weep
For all that I could never keep.

Michael Anderson

But dreams of those who dream as I,
Aspiringly, are damned and die.

May we, every poet lay those dreams before the throne with eyes that are free of tears and faces that shine in the sun from everlasting to everlasting.  Hope is the last thing to die and with it the last expression of life in the breath - of the poet.  Without the true face of our words, we are already wearing masks.  This brought out a lot of emotion in myself and I'm sure it will in others. Good to read something from you again!

The depths I gleen inwardly through your words, scares me sometimes Michael ... I don't believe anyone could write these emotions more powerfully, an excellent piece!

Best wishes,
/Kit

Lovely, Michael, very fine!

We cannot keep, we just cannot, for we are so weak and imperfect...yet in our weakness we are made strong.

Our weakness is why He had to come and our weakness is why we turn and seek Him.

Wonderful piece, Michael!

Katheen, there was alot beneath the surface of this one - glad to have evoked such emotion from you.

Rich, glad you enjoyed.

PdV, so glad to see you toooooooo...

Sy, glad you liked - your writings always seem to inspire something in me you know...

Kit, I agree, you read into me like no other - that in itself is probably a pretty scary thing.  Glad you still choose to read me at all seeing all you see...

Virginia, Indeed, the source of most people's pain is trying to hang on to things they MUST learn to let go - that is the Boogeyman I am speaking of here.

Kethry, well I've had more than my share of practice in the sleepless night dept to qualify I might think.  Kinda glad you can relate - but then I truly wish no one could for the most part - not exactly an enviable postion to share...

SEA, I hope he enjoys it - let me know...

Janet, you must be my most loyal reader I think.  Glad to see you too - you're one of the reasons I always return.     Linda sys hi back, btw.

Thank you all for your kind replies...

Michael

My Passionate pal.. For someone who writes of the "dark"... You're also wonderfully optimistic.. That'd make you one of the most catharctic writers I know... and certainly one of the best... (HUGS)..
