The day before you passed away I sat with you and I tried to pray Your grip was firm in my trembling hand How soon 'til you'd drift into that other land? A place where you'd be at peace With no pain to bear "Don't worry Dad - you're almost there" My memories flash past at a rapid rate As you're about to be received at heaven's gate As warm tears trace a path down the sides of my face How ready you must be for this better place I try and tell you "It'll be alright" As I wonder if you're going to make it through the night So I decide to tell you what I have planned As I take hold of your still, cold hand I'll take your ashes back to Sweden with me To the place that you loved and would want to be With the rest of your family there, it seemed so right To take you back there on such a difficult flight You'd still be there with me Until we laid you to rest Amongst the birches and pines For you - only the best The doves take wing and the angels have come As they lead your soul away And leave your pain behind you This was to be your very last day I wasn't there at your side To see you take your final breath But I know you wouldn't want to see me Crippled by grief at your death My heart now is scarred It will never be the same Since that day when you were taken away Suetang |

Honey, sounds like you and your Father were very close and what makes you think he is gone? You celebrate his life, not his death, and remember all the fun, and good times you shared, therefore he will always and forever more be in your heart and soul. He had to made a huge impression on you to write such a lovely poem to him, so remember what made all the love so real, and he will be right there whenever you need him. I would say he is pretty proud of you right now! |

This is a wonderful remembrance of your father and what he means to you. It sounds as if you have good memories to keep and treasure. I didn't get to say good-bye to my father either and I know how that hurts! Betty Lou Hebert |

Many people aren't able to say goodbye. This is a beautiful memorial poem for your father, and he knows how much you still love him. He's always with you. |

He wants you to be strong, and be his girl...this, I know...from experience... |

May I also offer the voice of experience. . . and echo what Sunshine has said. . . -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |
