Queries in the Night Questions … endless questions Seem to gravitate my way; Searching … always seeking As my thoughts begin to stray. Daylight … through to evening In the shadows they arrive; Frightened … always leery Of these thoughts I try to hide. Futile … useless ponder While I search to no avail; Darkness … all around me As my thoughts begin to pale. Righteous … indignation At the hollows of my plight; Weeping … ever weary As the dawn returns to night. Lonely … silent vigil To the unsuspecting eye; Wonder … in amazement Why I dare to even try. Answers … grant me answers To the questions I implore; Quiet … eerie silence Is returned forevermore. /Kit McCallum |

Kit - very nicely written, with many thoughts to ponder. I'm glad that I had a chance to stop by for a read. BC |

Kit, this is wonderful...a very lyrical read. And if you are ever up late, asking yourself questions, check out ICQ, I just might be there - but I don't have all the answers...not even sure I have ONE. |

Kit~ In the solitude of night what I most enjoy to find are the answers to the questions laying quietly in my mind I take them out play with them find one that will do then put the others back for another round of midnight what-to-do If I slept as deeply as I think - I'd be well-rested. Ponderous thoughts, poet. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

Oh, Dear Kit. May the answers come so you can get your needed sleep. I hate it when my mind won't turn off at night and it never solves anything. Joyce |

~Bill: I'm glad you had a chance too Bill ... thank you for enjoying! ~Karilea: And very graciously accepted Karilea ... thank you. ~Sharon: Oh Sharon ... I'd settled for just "one" right now. Sometimes it gets frustrating bumping up against that brick wall, ya know? I'll watch for you! ~Marge: Ah Marge ... "If I slept as deeply as I think - I'd be well-rested." Excellent line! Maybe I'll send that little spirit over for a fly-by to learn from you ... thanks Marge. ~Joyce: You've captured it with this one phrase Joyce ... "my mind won't turn off at night". That's exactly what it feels like. Thanks so much for understanding. ~Balladeer: In the form of a poem kind sir ... plllleeeease? I'd love to "read that prescription" (or anything from you for that matter)! Thanks so much Michael. ~Janet Marie: It was a bit of an odd format, wasn't it? I'm not sure where that came from - funny but I had this slow tune in my head writing this one. Thanks for the always uplifting words JM ... love ya! Much appreciation, /Kit |

Kit, I love the format, and the theme here is very familiar. I am the insomnia queen, the thoughts and worries and wishes really can overcome you at night, I know. Take care. Sandra |

Well you sure have left this open to cultivation of thinking...this is a wonderful poem for all of us, as poets, to consider....cause you know and I know we've all thought the same way...in those hours of repose the active mind can roam so....very good KIt you're quite the artistic promoter....love it! The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges. |

I like this one very much, Kit... and the format is perfect for the subject... all those niggling little half-formed questions that take on such importance in the wee hours of what should be sleeping time. *S* (Ooops... upon rereading my reply, let me clarify. *G* Your flow isn't disjointed or half-formed... far from it! LOL. Those terms refer to my thoughts! LOL) |
