Listening to every heart

0 posted 2001-03-20 11:36 AM

half way

half way there
it’s dawned on me
I’m pushing
a round number
far from
thirty-three

half way
to a century mark
and just now
realizing
the adventures I’ll
yet embark

it’s all in
my mind,
I know,
the feelings
that are yet
to grow

no, no,
it’s not all
down hill
for where
would there
be then,
this thrill?

that I’ve still
so much to learn
so much
energy to burn
so many
thoughts that
churn

I’m only
half the way
to where
I want to
be

so
understand
if you can
why I
still believe
in life’s
sweet, sweet
mysteries

I’m only
half way

"Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be.." We all get there sooner then we wish, but it beats the alternitive. This was an uplifting poem with a great message, Sunshine. Kate

Thanx for this poem...I am just coming up to 30 and after all these years finally getting it all together, I believe that the most and exciting years are best to come, I finally wake up every morning waiting for my future.

listen to paul.... he's got all the answers....

and you're probably way less than half, the way the expectancy is going these days, and not only that, you have twice the wisdom of someone twice your age

be thankful.... i am..... for you.....

Beautiful!

A quarter of a century must pass, for the writer to understand what and why he writes.

Kari dear heart, you are as always as perenial as the spring, and to me you'll always be Persephone. No less wise no less beautiful and always eternally producer of such wonder and beauty that makes the tears flow from my eyes.

Utterly truly fabulous piece, and as always perfectly

Love and warm stuff
as always

I agree oh so completely! I think there's is so much to experience on a mature level. Recognizing that maturity is such a great feeling as you realize it about yourself and wish for even more......this is so good Karilea, but I've come to expect that from you.....

The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges.

Being born into a generation which history, in its "infinite and efficient wisdom", calls "baby boomers", I can relate to this piece. My thoughts upon reading it are:
"Don't worry, be happy."
To quote a simple but meaningful phrase.
