This was my first 'conscious' attempt at a ballad. It went together so quickly, I was amazed. It's to a rhythm of a tune I know, but I can't think of what it is. (I just remembered...I think...Polly Wolly Doodle.) The Ballad of Christopher Wren Virginia Salter He built him a house he built him a church he built a cathedral too He built many things for the world around did he ever build something for you? Oh, Christopher Wren, had a mighty fine pen it lined out plans so bold using golden rectangles and lively quadrangles while all of his buildings sold. Now you must know that he loved the glow of the heavens above at night he studied the stars and he’d have gone to Mars if he could’ve gotten a flight. Thanks Sven! I thought no one was going to get to this one, it had gotten buried so far down. You must be a real trooper. Thanks for your kind remarks, too. I had fun writing this and I'm sure it went together because the rhythm and tune were already in my memory. I did check the encyclopedia to be sure my info was accurate and of course learned more about him while writing it. Good thing to have happen, eh. |
