I walked past your room but couldn’t bring myself to open the door
Not having you here is a feeling that leaves me aching to the core
Tonight no one will call that they need another drink or to hear a song
This house feels so empty...because you aren’t where you belong

In front of you I’ll smile and tell you to be good and have a great time
As I turn to go...I’m careful that no one sees these tears of mine
Your sweet little hug and kiss are kept safe in my heart and memory
Where no one can touch them....or take them from me

I pray tonight on bent knee that you know how much I love you
How much I wish that I could always be there to protect you
Adult decisions impact you the hardest of all...the ones without a choice
But baby please believe...I’ll listen hardest of all to that little voice

I'll try tonight to fall into the darkness of sleep
So I can hold and see you as you pray the Lord your soul to keep
Walking past your door, I see him there...feeling lost and lonely too...
Tears fall as I pick up the teddy that smells just like you

Butterflies--I have been in this situation that you have written of with your mother's heart...I think somehow children have resillience that we don't expect and may fair better then their parents...especially when both parents show how much they love them.  Hugs to you for this tender and love filled poem!

ButterfliesDC~
When you love them - they always know how much !
They have more than enough love to share,
and I know you know that.
Lay down, sweet guardian ... they know.

Oh Butterflies ... you're pulling my heart strings this morning. What an emotional read. I watched my sister go through these emotions, and talked to her on the phone endlessly as she cried that first night. Hugs to you for writing with such impact and intensity ... I'm sure they know how deeply you love them ...

Best wishes,
/Kit

Oh, my baby, I cry and ache with you. I can hold you in my heart and dreams and do the same for the little ones. The best is yet to come and God can hear our silent screams. We all wil make it through this.  Love and hugs, my kid.  Mom

BDC~ I kept going past this one.......knowing it would evoke strong emotions in me....( make me cry like a baby) and of course, it did.......I think I'd go insane, having to do this. Thank God, I don't. My heart goes out to you.   -SEA

I know how it feels to be away from your children and I have learned over time that as long as you show your love for them (and I KNOW you do) they will never truely doubt it.

my son's dad was just awarded FULL custody. God bless you. I can't think of any evil more commonly visited than family court. to survive it makes a mother a soldier.
