The wind is unforgiving
As it blows outside my door
Was summer really here?
Can we please have some more?

How quickly seasons change
So amazing is this sight
As the leaves fall like confetti
With a blanket for the night

The grass is getting greener
As the rain begins to fall
The rose petals lay littered
With so many colors on the lawn

The birds take shelter in the flowering gum
They know that there is so much work to be done
As they stock up on food
As the Winter draws near
I see them in my apple tree
Upon the apples they do leer

How we'll miss days at the beach
How we'll miss Summer's long days
But with the lovely Autumn mornings
Not in bed will I laze

Out in my garden you will find me
So much work for me to do
As I prepare the beds for Winter
Whose mornings begin covered in dew

In my Garden of Eden is where I will be
Toiling away somewhere under a tree
Digging holes, pulling weeds
Then I'll be planting all my seeds

From my palette I do paint
The picture in my mind is so quaint
A new masterpiece will be born
As the first day of Spring
Begins with a yawn

Such a gently and lovingly written piece about the changes of season. I too sensed a message about the seasons that occur in our own lives. I had nearly forgotten that your seasons are tipped upside down from ours here in the NW. A gracious poem.

It's hard to think of winter when we are waiting impatiently for spring. I don't suppose your winter season is anything like ours? Really nice poem.
